Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Forest Homecare Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Forest Homecare Limited are committed to making significant carbon reductions to minimise our carbon emissions. This will be the first year our emissions are recorded, reviewed, and reported on. This will allow us to focus on reducing our carbon footprint and work towards Net Zero by 2030.

Emissions reduction targets
Forest Homecare Limited is a responsible company, we respect our environment and the potential climate impact of our work. In order for us to achieve Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets:
- Reduce staff mileage by encouraging car sharing, bus commuting, and walking or cycling wherever possible.
- Map and understand all Scope 2 and 3 supply chain emissions.
- Work with suppliers to minimise or offset residual supply chain emissions
We project that carbon emissions will decrease to Net Zero tCO2e by 2030. This is a reduction of 100% against our 2024 baseline.
Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented prior to the baseline. These measures will be in effect when performing the contract:
Minimising Travel with Efficient Routes – The most significant part of our Scope 3 Emissions where reductions can be made is in work travel. As proactive and considered clustering for staff on care calls helps minimise travel, we use Access PeoplePlanner to organise efficient staff rotas and travel routes. We also encourage staff to car share, take public transport, or walk to care calls wherever possible.
Local Supply Chain – We reduce transportation impacts further by buying locally wherever possible. Our major spend category is Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), we buy all our PPE from suppliers located in Essex, where our head office is located. Any PPE needing delivering to other branches is picked up by senior staff members when calling at our head office and taken to their branches when they attend as normal.
Reducing Waste by Recycling – All our offices have recycling bins, with recyclable products placed in the recycling bins. Recycling is promoted within our offices and through communication with all staff, ensuring everyone at Forest Homecare plays their part in recycling.
In the future, we will continue delivering across the initiatives listed above, and implement the following further measures:
Electric Fleet – We will be investigating transitioning towards an electric fleet when the cars in our existing fleet require replacing. This will reduce carbon emissions from travel, which includes staff attending customer’s homes for care and support calls and attending meetings and conferences.
PPE Recycling – We will identify local companies that provide Eco Friendly PPE recycling and recycling points to allow us to recycle PPE wherever possible, helping minimise landfill waste.
Reducing Single-Use Plastics – Where possible, all use of single-use plastics, such as packaging materials and plastic cutlery, will be replaced with alternatives. We will also bulk buy consumables and other regularly purchased items to reduce plastic packaging and target 100% reuseable utensils, bottles, plates, and cutlery within our premises.
Further Reduce Travel – We will continue to reduce travel, for example, by maximising use of public transport and creating online meetings when possible.
